🥘 Shami Kabab Recipe – A Classic Desi Favorite

When it comes to traditional desi snacks, Shami Kabab holds a special place on every table. Crispy on the outside, soft and flavorful on the inside, these kababs are perfect for family dinners, lunchboxes, or even as a tea-time treat. Let’s learn how to prepare this timeless delicacy step by step.

🛒 Ingredients

  • Beef Mince – 750 g
  • Split Chickpeas (Chana Dal) – 220 g (soaked)
  • Onions – 2 (1 for boiling, 1 chopped for mixing)
  • Green Chilies – 4–5
  • Fresh Coriander – 10 g
  • Eggs – 2
  • Ginger – 16 g
  • Garlic Cloves – 6
  • Whole Red Chilies – 8
  • Whole Cumin – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder – 1 tbsp
  • Whole Black Pepper – 1 tbsp
  • Black Cardamom – 2
  • Cloves – 5
  • Cinnamon Powder – 1 tsp
  • Salt – as required
  • Water – 3 cups
  • Cooking Oil – as needed (for frying)

👩‍🍳 Preparation Method

Step 1 – Cook the Base

  • In a pot, add beef mince, soaked split chickpeas, 1 onion, ginger, garlic, whole red chilies, cumin, coriander powder, black pepper, cloves, black cardamom, cinnamon powder, salt, and 3 cups of water.
  • Cook on medium heat for 35–40 minutes until the water dries and everything is tender.

Step 2 – Grind the Mixture

  • Once cooked, let the mixture cool slightly.
  • Transfer to a mill and grind until smooth.

Step 3 – Prepare the Kabab Mixture

  • Place the ground mixture in a bowl.
  • Add green chili, chopped onion, fresh coriander, and 1 beaten egg.
  • Mix well until everything is combined.

Step 4 – Shape & Fry

  • Shape the mixture into round flat kababs.
  • Dip each kabab lightly in beaten egg.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan and shallow fry the Kebab until golden brown on both sides.
